Experience

Auckland lawyer Matthew Allan advises both public and private sector clients on environmental, resource management, land transport, development and local government issues.  Matthew has appeared in the Environment Court, High Court and Court of Appeal as counsel on resource management matters. He has particular expertise with 'direct referral' proceedings in the Environment Court.  Matthew has chaired two expert consenting panels appointed under the COVID-19 Recovery (Fast-track Consenting) Act 2020.

Before rejoining Brookfields Lawyers in 2007, Matthew worked in the London offices of international law firms Norton Rose and Taylor Wessing where he acted for property developers, industrial undertakings, banks, and the UK's largest port group. He also worked in-house at a London Borough Council practising planning, environmental and highways law.
